Payment requests from carriers and duty-payment pages
In short
On a Teleship DDP parcel, your customer should never be asked to pay. If they are, forward the request to cs@teleship.com — we check it with the carrier and refund the customer if they paid.
Two legitimate cases where a recipient is asked to pay
- The parcel was shipped DDU with another carrier (not through Teleship). The carrier or its duty-collection partner requests duty + tax + a handling fee before delivery. Teleship's sister service duties-taxes.com runs those payment pages for some carriers; they are legitimate and contact is cs@duties-taxes.com.
- Customs re-assessed the parcel after import (rare) and the carrier billed the recipient. Send us the request; we settle it.
How to tell a genuine request from fraud: the link domain is the carrier's or duties-taxes.com; the parcel reference matches the tracking; the amount is consistent with the goods value and destination rate; no request for card details by email or phone. Two requests for the same parcel → don't pay twice; send both references to support. Payment confirmation is not delivery — allow the parcel to move after clearance.
