IOSS and Merchant of Record for EU orders
In short
No registration needed. EU orders ≤ €150: if you have your own IOSS number we declare under it and you file monthly; if not, Teleship is the IOSS party (£1/parcel) and files for you. EU orders > €150: IOSS can't be used, so Teleship acts as Merchant of Record under its EU EORI/VAT registration (£4/parcel) — goods are imported in Belgium and delivered anywhere in the EU27.
IOSS (Import One-Stop Shop): the EU scheme for consignments up to €150 intrinsic value. Destination-country VAT (17–27 %) is charged at checkout, the IOSS number travels in the customs data, no VAT is charged again at the border, one monthly return remits it. There is no VAT de-minimis in the EU: every import is VAT-liable.
Your own IOSS: enter it in Settings → Shipper details. We pass it in the declaration; you remain liable for the monthly return; Teleship collects no VAT from you for those parcels. Selling through a marketplace (Amazon, eBay, Etsy)? The marketplace is the deemed supplier and its IOSS number must reach us on the order — check your connector maps that field (some sync tools don't) by running a test order.
Above €150: full TARIC duty by HS code + import VAT, computed at checkout. Teleship declares as importer of record for a flat £4 — well below carrier DDP clearance fees.
Both cases: the VAT shown at your checkout is the destination country's rate. You don't need a French, German or any EU VAT number to use the service.
