Tax-inclusive prices and how Teleship reads them
In short
If your storefront prices include UK VAT, configure Shopify so the tax portion is separated at checkout for international customers; otherwise destination VAT and duty are calculated on top of an already-taxed price and your customer overpays.
- Shopify: Settings → Taxes and duties → Include tax in prices, and enable Include or exclude tax based on your customer's country (dynamic tax-inclusive pricing). International customers then see the net price plus destination tax.
- Teleship reads the line-item net value Shopify sends us; with the setting above, that value excludes UK VAT, so duties/taxes are correct.
- WooCommerce: set prices exclusive of tax for international zones, or use a tax plugin that strips UK VAT for export.
- Check with a test checkout: the goods line for an EU/US address should be about 16.7 % lower than the UK-inclusive price.
